What is a pip?
A pip (percentage in point) is the smallest price increment for a currency pair. For most pairs (EUR/USD, GBP/USD), 1 pip = 0.0001. For JPY pairs (USD/JPY), 1 pip = 0.01.
How much is a pip worth?
Standard lot (100,000 units): ~$10/pip for USD-quoted pairs. Mini lot (10,000 units): ~$1/pip. Micro lot (1,000 units): ~$0.10/pip. Exact value depends on the current exchange rate.
What is a pipette?
Many brokers now quote 5 decimal places. The 5th decimal (10th of a pip) is called a pipette. EUR/USD at 1.10523 has moved 2.3 pips from 1.10500.
